>>> Kirk Fights with Gorn vid <<<

And Finally, Me thinks that this week's quota of totally nerdish thingies has been fullfilled!

I would like to see him use his talent

Vin Diesel

* darn it was hard to find a decent pic of him among those cheesy ones..

I know he has more talent than the stereotyped roles may have given the impression of. Here is a proof of it:

>> Multi-Facial short (1999) <<
(watch it 'til the end, the beginning is a bit boring)

Man can choose his roles as he pleases but personnally I would like to see him in a more challenging role. Or any role that does not cast him as 'blockbuster action hunk'. Now, don't get me wrong: there is an audience to that kind of movies and they are quite entertaining flicks BUT think of the possibilities man behind those roles could bring if given an entirely a different role?! For instance some small role as junkie or something else.. I can smell an award of some kind. Anyway, 'til that happens I have relatively high hopes of Hannibal and let's hope that is a bit better and more original than the other productions of late.

BRUCE!

The exception I make about posting crappy videos into this blog.

Most likely a crappy Nice show, but Bruce! It's almost that Beetle-game you play: when ever you see a beetle you are entitled to punch you buddy. Could it be applied to Bruce?

Have you ever wonder what would happen if...

You'd mix Hugh Jackman and Willem Dafoe?

Well, I didn't either but I came across this picture and got an answer for one of the deepest questions of life:

Something just about that!
(Sorry about the bad quality of the pic: it's scanned from a newspaper ad, you can click for larger version)

And yes. It's late and I've been in front of the computer monitor for too many hours doing way too detailed a work. So spare me the lame fun I have! By the way I never knew (until now that I had to find a pic of Dafoe) that Dafoe's first name is Willem not William! Wow. The same thing about David Twohy -until yesterday I always though that his name was Thowy. How boring!

Movie masters' style

Over the past couple of weeks I've been shooting some clips for school. For one clip I decided to make a lynchih-style. This is what I learned:

1. Get a wide-lens camera
Wider the better. All the masters use it: Kubrick, Leone, Lynch ...

2. Sound
Choose it wisely. It is, like my friend says, very very very important factor. And way underrated. I found that out while making my own clips. They came alive after sound, so kudos if you manage to do the soundtrack well!

3. Lynch style

Of course NObody can replicate him but there are things that Lynch's work is made up:
  • flame, flickering
  • smoke
  • "lamp" or theatre colours (i.e. quite saturated colours)
  • flickering/water/light/mix-up scene
  • disturbing scenes (it's usually both violence-scenes and those that just are so out-of-the-place that they are very very disturbing)
  • lighting (almost like a theatre lightning)
  • animal (occasionally, doesn't need to be real one)
  • very strong distracting soundtrack (one of the essentials of Lynch's work)
  • - and of course, the storyline is mixed, plot is bizarre and there is no explaining of anything
What came of my Lynchih-thingy? Well, I missed quite much so not very much. I'm way too scared of Lynch's work to even start refining it. There's a filmmaker that's very demonic. Very (and I have no idea why I still keep watching his movies even though I don't like them -ok, I do like the 'art' they are made but not the movies).

Ryanair, oh why Ryanair?

Recently I found a news item telling that Ryanair is seriously thinking about toilet charge!! (read it here). Then, it became evident that they are in a bit of a cash trouble indeed:

Personally I got kind of love-hate relationship with this airline. I love it, it reminds me of Mile High (and I liked the service -normal service mind you- what I got there -no PUN intended) but then again I'm not quite sure how to respond to these kind of cut-backs!

These videos are sponsored by a car

Pick the better one:

This version of the Desert Rose (a video which you can't see in Youtube [see my previous post] if you are from elsewhere than from States...) is actually -if my memory deserves me- a new version. There was an older clip without so obvious marketing (I think you can find that music video from Sting's Brand New Day CD -if I remember correctly, could've been another vid). Nevermind, Sting + car looks awesome, even if the music video is otherwise totally & completely ridiculous with that advertising going on (aka "Sting wandering like headless chicken with camcorder").

And:

I'd like to see a person who notices the car. I don't. But if I get that kinda of a bloke with the car I'm buying it (that is, when I get filthin' rich)!
